Kevin Rahm (I Hate My Teenage Daughter)
Young Hollywood Interview 10-26-11 (this was a very funny interview and really worth watching even without ESS)
Young Hollywood: Who’s the prankster on the set?
Chad Coleman: Eric Sheffer Stevens. Actually Eric and Kevin.
Kevin: Eric is a prankster but he’s sneaky about it. Eric does stuff and then looks to me…He’s the kid in class who’s talking to you and then you laugh and the teacher looks and catches you laughing, then you get in trouble. That’s Eric. So I think Eric is the prankster.
Young Hollywood: And he’s not here to defend himself because he’s the one person not shooting today.
Kevin Rahm: Cryin’ shame.
VAN HANSIS (As The World Turns)
Luke and Noah in Paris 2010 Fan Event
On Luke and Reids story:
Reid is a fantastic character and I think its one of the best stories if not the best for Luke and Noah even though it does divide people a lot. I think that kind of attests to the fact that Eric is doing a really good job and Reid is a character that people are really invested in.
On working with Eric:
He is incredibly inventive as an actor, I think all that food stuff is him, I think that is something he brought in for his character. He was always eating, whenever there was food on set he’d eat it and I loved that choice. He had never done a soap before and he just kind of stepped into it and I think just blew everybody away- he was fantastic. He is a really nice guy too, he’s got a really dry sense of humor. He is very smart- very unassuming I would say, and he is very fun to work with.
On the audition/casting of Reid:
.. when they had their final group of people, I went in and I read with them. There were only three of them- there was Eric, who wasI think, by far.. when he read there was really nobody else who would even come close to being right for the role….. The thing that was really cool was that the other two had come in in full suits and they were very “I am a doctor” and Eric came in in jeans and t-shirt- he just sat there and was an asshole to everybody and he was great- he was fantastic.
Interview with Michael Fairman 5/28/10
On the phenomenal response to their story and working with Eric:
He (Eric) is a really inventive actor. I think it takes a really special actor to take a character like that, who on paper can look like an asshole, and he has basically made him someone to root for. Eric has done a really fantastic job of that. Honestly, going into this thing when Eric was cast, I had the idea that he and Luke would hook-up. But I did not know it would go as far as it has gone, or that it would become a real triangle, and a real relationship!
On Reid/Eric similarities:
No, he is not like Reid at all! He is a very nice guy, and very funny and smart. I have had a blast working with him.
Soap Opera Digest- 09-14-10
On sharing the screen with Eric:
I love working with him because he’s incredibly inventive. He is very creative.
On his surprise at Luke and Reids popularity:
I thought everybody loved Luke and Noah! Whenever anybody else came in as a potential third party, they never seemed to get much love from the fans, but people love Reid. Eric deserves it, he’s fantastic.
Michael Fairman- ATWT Farewell Interview with Van Hansis 09-17-10
On working with Eric:
I think Eric is a great guy. I would love to see what he is up to. Eric is incredibly talented. I am sure I am going to be seeing him on the big screen or the small screen, or the theatre. Working with him was fantastic!
JON HENSLEY (As The World Turns)
TVGuide.ca Jon Hensley 9-15-10
JH: And [the writers] never ran out of story for Van. There was so much story to tell with Luke. It was [an endless well]. And they topped it off perfectly with this Reid character. I thought everything with the Reid character was perfect and wonderful.
On Eric and his performance:
Eric is really, really great! He really brought a lot to that character.
