ESS.com 1 year Anniversary

May 17, 2011 is the one year anniversary of www.ericshefferstevens.com.  It’s been a great year of meeting new friends, learning new skills, campaigning with everything we’ve had in us and enjoying the talents of one amazing actor. We’ve laughed, squeed, fallen in love and cried our hearts out as a fandom. Now Eric is moving on to new roles and developing new characters for us to love. We hope you will all stick with us as we continue to follow his career. I think we are all in for an amazing ride.

Since this is our 1st anniversary, the Crew decided to share a few gifts with some of our friends in the Eric Sheffer Stevens community but we asked for something in return … We wanted to know what you love about ESS and about being his fans.  We got a lot of emails and honestly most of them said the same things about why we love this actor.  Thank you to everyone who participated. We wish you could have all won.  My sons were very kind to help us out with the actual draw and here are our winners… (If I don’t have your ESS fan forum name  I will use your first name and last initial)

Congratulations…  I will contact you all via email for addresses.

I’m going to include excerpts from some of the emails for everyone to enjoy…

“You know that feeling you get when you come across a real find at a garage sale, something incredibly unique and valuable, but that’s marked super low because no one seems to have realized what it is? So you grab the thing as fast as you can and run to purchase it, trying to keep your cool for fear that someone will discover their mistake at the last minute and snatch your prize out of your hands? Okay, well, that’s never actually happened to me, but I *imagine* it must be similar to the feeling of stumbling across ESS and recognizing him for the fantastic talent that he is. The only difference is that we have a wonderful group of fans who also recognize his valuable, and it’s been so much fun to spend time with them and share the experience of following ESS’s career, while we wait for the rest of the world to catch up and realize what a true prize he is. :)

“i love this site & i love all the friends i’ve made here this past year. i started talking with alot of you on FB on the Reid Oliver page & followed you to hear & on LRO & LJ. that it’s still going strong after the show was cancelled & how they ended the show speaks volumes about how wonderful this fandom is. when we heard about what they were going to do to Reid we started campaigns to try to change their minds (small as they were)& then when that didn’t work we took our anger & pain & sorrow & turned it into something positive, the DWB campaign & so far to date we’ve raised almost $25,000.00 to be distributed to first the earthquake in Haiti, then Japan after the earthquake there. i can’t wait for his future projects on tv & the big screen & coming here & discussing them with everybody.”

“I have watched ATWT my whole life, but was never invested in a character/actor/pairing like I was with Reid/Eric/LuRe. I’ve watched Luke be born and grow up, but I am a Reid girl! From the moment he came on the show, he had my heart!”

“I’ve looked back at all of Eric’s work, watched tons of interviews, and just enjoy his talent.  I love his diversity and charisma, and I can’t wait to see him in his new sitcom.  It’s been a lot of fun reading and getting to know people on the boards!  It’s probably taken a little too much of my life, but I can’t say I regret it!”

“Wow, can’t believe it’s been a year. This year as an ESS fan has been crazy. I’ve never been this addicted to an actor before! Here is how much of an impact he made on me: I was a faithful viewer of ATWT for over 25 years. When the cancellation was announced I was upset at first but I had lost Guiding Light earlier so I was prepared. I was just going to enjoy the last remaining months and than move on. But here came this unknown actor who made me dread the end of the show. The “what could have been” made me so sad when I thought about them. It just goes to show how wonderful an actor & person ESS is to have made such an impact on so many lives in such a short period of time.
The most important thing to come out of the ESS experience is all of the new friends I’ve made not only from here but from many other sites as well. I’m so grateful to have a place like here to visit every day and share so many aspects of my life not just about ESS.

Thank you so much for creating this wonderful place for all of us to come & enjoy each other & the amazing career of ESS!”

“While I was initially enamored with Reid, it didnt’ take long to fall in love with Eric, too. He’s talented, handsome, funny, smart, humble and by all accounts an all-around awesome guy. He has been nothing but gracious to his fans and that’s a rare thing these days. I wish so many good things for him and his family down the road. As a fan, I’m THRILLED that his series has been picked up. It should be only the beginning of a career that lasts as long as he would like for it to.
So, thank you for this wonderful place. I’ve made so many genuine friends through Luke/Van and Reid/Eric and the internet. Some days, we all need this common thread to get us through”

“As The World Turns was my favorite soap opera for 30 years and I am being very honest in that time I have never seen an actor as good as Eric.  I believe if he had come to the some six months earlier the some would not have been cancelled.  This site is great, I love seeing all the old videos from the show as well as the old pictures.  I hope you keep the site going on.”
